What this report is
Carfax gathers the history of cars in the United States and Canada from motor vehicle agencies, insurers, police reports, auctions and repair shops. It is the report most buyers ask for before paying for a used American car, including cars bought at Copart or IAAI and shipped abroad.
At MotorAPIs the report sits next to the auction data you already use: every Copart and IAAI lot carries its VIN, ready for a Carfax check. Nobody on your side needs a Carfax account.

- Then the report says that no records were found. Fewer records means less on file, not a cleaner car.
- Can I keep the report as a PDF?
- Yes. You get the full Carfax report as a web page and, if you want it, as a PDF to keep or pass on to your buyer.
- Does it work for cars from Copart and IAAI?
- Yes. A Carfax report needs only the VIN, and every Copart and IAAI lot we cover has one.
